Martlets Fall to Bears

The Martlets traveled to Sheffield, Mass on Saturday afternoon to face off against the Berkshire Bears. Both teams had been playing well and were vying for positions in the postseason, so this game carried significant weight for both sides.
The Martlets struck early, with Owen Burke '26 finding the back of the net just 40 seconds into the game to give the Black and Gold a 1-0 lead. However, they were unable to score again for the rest of the match. The Bears responded late in the first period, tying the game at 1-1.
In the second period, the Martlets picked up their play, generating more offensive pressure, but still couldn’t find a way past the Bears' goalie. Midway through the period, the Bears capitalized on a broken play to score their second goal and take a 2-1 lead into the third.
As has been the case in many close games this season, the Martlets entered the third period focused and ready to battle. They came out strong, but the Bears' goalie made several key saves to keep them ahead. With the Martlets pushing for the equalizer, the Bears found the back of the net again for a 3-1 lead, followed by an empty-net goal to seal the game at 4-1.
This was a hard-fought contest that could have gone either way, and the Martlets credit their opponent for finding a way to secure the victory.
