Martlets Fall to GFA

In their final game before the winter long weekend, the Martlets were committed to playing 32 minutes of high energy basketball. The team’s efforts on the defensive end of the floor set the tone. Our starters Lauren Neuman ‘25, Delia Lockwood ‘26, Gianna Monaco ‘27, Lilly Murphy ‘25, and Eva Rodgers ‘25 forced several turnovers and worked hard to secure rebounds, limiting our opponents' scoring chances. Lauren Neuman ‘25 led the offensive attack, breaking through the opponent’s pressure and finding good scoring opportunities for herself and her teammates. Despite finding several good looks at the basket, the Martlets shots refused to fall. Delia finally got the home team on the scoreboard with an open layup off a forced turnover, and Parker Perillo ‘26 was soon to follow with an open jump shot. In the second half, our floor general’s efforts finally paid off when Lauren hit two open 3 pointers while our defense continued to play with full intensity for the remaining two quarters. GFA had some strong shooters who added to their scoring, but the Martlets never gave up and delivered on their goal to play with high energy for the full length of the game. Our final highlight was when Melody El-Amin ‘27 converted a hook shot after collecting a strong offensive rebound in the final minute of the game. After today’s effort, the Martlets have earned a well-deserved long weekend and will look forward to getting back on the court next Wednesday when we travel to Frederick Gunn.
